WHAT IF INTIMACY WERE THE STARTING POINT FOR EQUALITY?
RETHOUGHT. REINVENTED. REBALANCED.
FREE FROM GENDER NORMS.
A SPACE WHERE WE CARE. FOR OURSELVES, FOR OTHERS, FOR THE RELATIONSHIP.
WE GIVE MEN THE MEANS TO TAKE ACTION, TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THEIR FERTILITY AND TO TAKE THEIR SHARE — CONCRETELY AND SUSTAINABLY.
BECAUSE A FAIRER SOCIETY BEGINS HERE: IN THE BODY, AT 37 DEGREES.
WITH 37 DEGRÉS, JOIN THE WAVE OF CONTRACEPTIVE EQUALITY.

2020

AWARENESS

The thermal contraception method already exists: it is documented, reliable, and supported by several pioneers in the field — including Dr. Mieusset at Toulouse University Hospital, ARDECOM, and the General Medicine Congress. Yet despite its effectiveness and simplicity, it remains largely unknown and rarely used.

Through observations, research and conversations, one question emerged: why does this male contraceptive method remain marginal despite its proven potential?

2021

FIRST QUESTIONS

Reading led to more questions. Why is contraceptive equality still not a more widely discussed issue? Why does contraceptive responsibility continue to fall so overwhelmingly on women? Why do men still have so little control over their own fertility? After all, conception involves two people — why shouldn’t contraception?

And why is this method discovered so late, when contraception lies at the heart of intimate life for so many heterosexual couples?

The method exists, but the ecosystem needed for its widespread adoption does not. No contraceptive device truly designed for everyday life. No structured medical pathway. No clear language to talk about it.

Gradually, the question evolved from “Why isn’t this method more widely used?” to “What needs to be built to make it accessible, simple and fully embraced?”

THE ENCOUNTER

A few years ago, Gaëlle laid the first foundations of 37 DEGRÉS as part of her graduation project at ENSCI–Les Ateliers. She later met Matthieu, and together they shared their analyses, perspectives and personal experiences. Common ambitions quickly emerged: to open up the conversation around equality, inclusivity and trust within intimacy — and finally give male contraception a rightful place. The project began to take shape.

PROTOTYPING

This marked the beginning of an iterative process: design, testing, adjustments and technical collaborations. The objective was clear: to create more than an effective medical device. The ambition was to design a contraceptive boxer that could naturally integrate into everyday life — following the body and its movements without discomfort or constraint.

Design became a tool in the service of male contraception: making it simple, comfortable, reliable and desirable.

A multidisciplinary committee of experts was brought together around the project, including doctors, researchers, healthcare professionals and textile specialists.

37 DEGRÉS TAKES FLIGHT

The brand takes shape. A clear direction emerges: institutional support begins to build, and 37 DEGRÉS reaches the first defining milestones in the life of a start-up. Step by step, non-dilutive funding is secured — including grants from Bpifrance, the Abeille Assurances Health Prize and honorary loans — allowing the development of the boxer to move toward completion.

The next stage is already underway: the CE marking process has begun, an initial fundraising round is in progress, and both pre-clinical and clinical trials are being structured.

2026

PUTTING IT TO THE TEST

Industrialisation and the launch of pre-orders: this year will also mark the completion of pre-clinical trials for the 37.1 contraceptive boxer, followed by the launch of a large-scale clinical trial aimed at obtaining CE marking.

37 DEGRÉS is entering a new phase — moving from prototype to product, from the laboratory to real-life user testing.

THE FOUNDERS

When a double realisation becomes a driving force: male contraception lacks tools, and intimacy lacks equality.

Gaëlle, a textile designer trained in material development at Decathlon, and Matthieu, an engineer with experience in strategy consulting at McKinsey and the start-up Innovafeed, each witnessed — in their own way — the limitations of a system in which the contraceptive burden still falls almost entirely on women.

Gaëlle and Matthieu met in 2023. Their stories converged, their certainties began to shift: anger on one side, self-questioning on the other, both pointing in the same direction. A desire to bring together science, medicine, innovation and design in order to create a male contraceptive solution that is reliable, desirable, accessible and reversible.

In short: equitable contraception.

37 degrés is a response to a question left unanswered for far too long: what if intimacy were the starting point for equality?

THE SCIENTIFIC AND MEDICAL TEAM

Surrounding the project is a team of doctors and clinical research experts supporting every stage of development. Their role: to ensure scientific rigour, supervise the protocol, guarantee safety of use and verify the reliability of the method in order to protect the health of both users and their partners. Because caring for intimate health requires precision, trust and expertise.
